Happy bday!

omg.. that day is so freaking hectic.. there're a million and one things to do..
when the catering came, I realised I forgot to prepare the cash for the payment. So I had to walk all the way to McDonald's, which is freaking far from the chalet. And I walked so fast that I had a blister on my left foot. It was so painful, that I rented a bike and cycle back instead. -.-

It was so tiring walking in out left right round and round. Sorry if you guys are bored. But it was really great to see all my friends and relatives. Will post the polaroids soon!

I needed to bring my water bottle out everytime. But I can't squeeze it into that small little canon bag. So I figured that I needed a smaller camera bag, so that I will bring one small little bag with the camera and another bag with all my barangs. OR, I could get one freaking big bag to stuff all my stuffs.

I think this is the answer. Just look at how much things you can put in that bag. It can even carry your tripod around.

I just wonder if it'll look too big on me...

I finally sent out my complaint letter. Feels kinda shiok after pouring out all my grievances. BUT... singtel only allows me to type in 850 characters! IT'S NOT ENOUGH!

Anyways, I went to bintan last week. OMG, there's absolutely nothing there! Nothing is nice there except the beach. We stayed at Bintan Lagoon Resort who charges us an exorbitant price of S$6.50 for a can of Pringles. And there're mysterious beetles flying and dying along the corridors. And our room with garden view has no garden outside. All we could see is the slope of a hill. But our rooms were pretty nice.

We went to this place call Pasar Oleh Oleh. It's a tourist attraction and it's very deserted. It's like a dead town. It feels pretty awkward there, coz we felt like we're the only ones there, and all the shop owners were like preying on us.

And then, we board a taxi and left the place. We were very lucky to meet a chinese taxi uncle who can speak chinese! We felt so relieved, coz even though the locals could speak simple english, we just couldn't make out what they were saying. It's really a pain! If anyone's going to Bintan, you can get the uncle's no. from me. I still have his namecard!

And so, for the rest of our trip, we got the uncle to drive us around!

On the 2nd day:
We went to the town area of Bintan and tried to do some shopping. OMG, the exchange rate is like S$1 to Rupiah$7000-$8000! The last time I went, it was only $5700! We went groccery shopping like crazy. We bought cup noodles, crackers (15cents each), yakult (it's only 90cents per pack), blah blah...

We saw this car outside the shopping centre. At first I tot the uncle was very hip and ZHNG his car until like that. But later I found out from the taxi uncle... It's a BUS! And there're colour coded! I saw a purple and orange one along the way... So cool! So old school...

We went to this seafood restaurant to have our dinner. It started pouring heavily after we finished our dinner. So we started cam-whoring since we're stuck there.

On our last day:

So the beach it is... We shld have just roam around the beach during the 3 days! It was the best thing during this trip. The shopping sux, the food sux, but the beach is wow. Look at how clear the water is.

I bought this jelly lens from Action City. Haha... FAKE Fisheye photos! Not bad sia... can bluff right...

Ohya.. I forgot to mention. The cigarettes there is like freaking cheap! $2 per pack. But please remember to DECLARE your goods at the custom. The tax for 1 pack of cigarettes is S$7.65.. Don't ask me why or how I know. I just know. Thanks huh Mr. Lee..

i can't really rmb what i did during the month of july. it was mostly pubbing at timbre, bcoz its july and it's also known as tan-min-yen's month (it's her bday mth, and she has this indescribable love for timbre). But i do vividly rmb what happened on 12th of july. we went timbre to celebrate ms tan's bday in advance (yes... timbre again... ms tan's favourite).

after timbre, we went taboo at duxton. it was so damn crowded! we were stuck at the entrance. we wanted to get a refund, but the waiter managed to shove us all in into the second floor, which was much empty.

pretty cool place to chill out. and alicia's frens are really fun and interesting. don (the guy in the middle) went to get the waiter's no. for min yen, when she only made a casual remark about him. he's like so ON loh.. we were all so excited to help match-make her and the waiter, so we just grabbed her bag and whipped out her phone, and started texting the waiter... on her behalf! haha..

after the hairdresser had helped me to blow dry my hair. i finally realised what i really need. i dun need any rebonding/perming/haircut/etc. sessions. i just need a personal hair stylist to blow my hair dry. i just can't dry my hair as straight as any stylists. after he dried my hair, i was tempted to tell him: "you don't have to cut my hair anymore."

went essential brews @ holland to celebrate qiu's and my bday. we've got spongebob n patrick balloons!!! omg! i've always wanted a balloon for my bday! can't believe the girls actually got it for me. n i din tell them at all! *grins* i was so into my balloon that i forgotten that i was still suppose to receive a bday present from them.

On my actual bday, dear brought me to holland... AGAIN. he got me balloons too! but it was me who told him that i wanted it. haha.. yeah... then i had to lug the balloons around holland. i think the people there might recognize me. the balloon girl.

We went to a mexican restaurant to have dinner. And he's shoving me the receipt. haha.. but i din see how much it was. he's suppose to pay! We went to cold rock. He ordered the ice cream flavour, choc chip, and i chose gummy bears to be mixed in it! it tasted really weird. the gummy bears were not gummy. its hard. i think it kinda frozen. haha. the choc chip is yucky. it tasted like choco milk. and then, i got some cat food, and we went to went the cats.

And so, i have 3 balloons in my room. spongebob is looking at me blogging now. (my com is on the right side of the pic)

can you believe it? they got me a witch hat, a sword and a fake nose! they actually wanted to get a wand. but they couldn't find it, and thus a sword.

we went to the zoo! and the cable car is damn high!

we went to ximending! its really bustling there. there's a wrestling ring right in the middle of no where!

We went to dan shui. and started our eating expedition again. we din really sit down and eat at all during the whole trip. we juz buy and eat on the go. and walk and walk and walk the whole day til our feet are sore.

we went to wufenpu after a long day's walk at dan shui. and i went on a shopping rampage. and then we head back to the hotel by train!

I love their mrts! Taiwanese are really organised people. I think their mrt system and culture is better than Singapore's. They actually queue up and WAIT for the passengers to alight first before boarding the train. They have these "priority" seats for the pregnant ladies and elderly. And NOBODY seats on them, unless they're old or pregnant. Whatever happened to our courtesy campaign?

You know the Chinese saying that goes like this: trouble doesn't travel alone.

It applies to me today.

#1:
It was raining pretty heavily today. I was going back to my ex internship company at Lok Yang. I was wondering why didn't I see the familiar stop that I'd always alight. And I realised I was on the wrong bus until it reached the expressway towards Tuas. Thank god, the bus driver told me to change to the correct bus at the tuas terminal. Not all bus driver know the way, some only know the route they're driving.

And when I alight and tapped my ez-link. Guess what? My card had a negative amount. It's no big deal really, IF you're not in somewhere so ulu. There were no machines to top up your card, there were no one at the terminal. No one was queuing for bus. No cabs. No ATMs. Nothing, except trees and trucks and lecherous uncles. I'm left with some $10, $5, $2 notes, which was pretty useless there. I needed coins. I only had 90cents. But I knew the bus ride to bring me out would cost more than that. And I needed more coins to bring me home later on. I felt so desperate. It's like you had the money, but they couldn't do anything for you at that point of time.

The bus came, and I was the only passenger. The bus driver smiled at me. Probably because I was the only passenger who (EVER) board the bus at tuas terminal. OR he heard about me boarding the wrong bus from the previous bus driver. I put in all my coins, silently praying that I wouldn't get kicked out. And I thought I heard him saying ok, and he pressed the button to print out the ticket.

Then, a lady came to sit beside me. She looked at me awhile, while I was glancing around, trying to find my stop. And then, she asked me: "Are you from Myanmar?". THAT is the weirdest qns I've ever received from anyone. I've been mistaken for a malay, peranakan, and now burmese.
I AM A CHINESE! C-H-I-N-E-S-E. And I am proud of my heritage. Stop asking me if I understand chinese. I do. Stop asking me if i'm mixed blood. I'm not. Stop asking me if my ancestors are mixed blood. They're not.
But it's ok, the lady seem quite nice and friendly. So, I asked her if she's got change for $2. But, she doesn't.

It took me 1+hr to reach my destination, when it normally only takes 15min.
And before I leave, I had to ask the new batch of interns in the office for change. That was so very awkward.

So here ends my mini edition of "A series of unfortunate events".

As days dragged on, I have yet to bring her to seek proper treatment. Her condition seems bleak. And so, I've prepared myself for the worst.

I'll always remember the times we shared. Traveling is our favourite pastime. We love getting lost in unknown alleys. Every architecture looks so beautiful and artistic through her eyes. She is incomparable and irreplaceable. No one can be on par with her. No one.

This is what I see through her. The joy and excitement that she brings are reduced to mere images and memories. And if she is gone, what is left of her is just an empty body without a soul, a cup of coffee without sugar and cream, a car without wheels, a lamp without a bulb, a phone without battery, a toilet cubicle without toilet paper...

And what's left of me is a wallet without any cash, not even a dime.

anyway, finally had our shoot at the park. and we finished everything in a day! approx 5hr actually. what a feat. we estimate to finish the park scene in 3 days initially. but our talents.. well.. are talented. haha. din NG too much. and so, we managed to finish early.

stood under the hot sun during the entire period of the shoot. got tanned as i've always wanted. haven got the time to go sentosa for a nice tan. now i've got it while working.

actually i dun really like video production, coz i tink it's troublesome, until... now. its actually quite fun to be out there filming, lugging the equipments everywhere, and laughing at your team mates' and your own stupidity.

brenden - our producer, is like our caring father. sometimes, he's too over caring, and we're cant help to laugh at his act. he likes to spoil things, act gay, cleans up the beach n ask passers-by to scram off 100m radius off our filming scene.
w/o him in the team, i tink i'll still continue to hate video.

what can i say? we're just so into gambling and telly. mahjong all the way til 7pm, and it's telly time until 9pm. and we gambled until the morning and slept. now my bio clock is screwed. i can't slp til 6am. but i won some money in mahjong. it's the first time i won money in mahjong. i always lose.. that's weird.

i went to get my skinny jeans today! yeah! its like i keep mentioning but i din buy.. and.. i bought 3 pairs! im so broke.. the first shop's jeans wasn't really tat skinny. but it was cheap lah.. so i bought 2.. den i pass by another shop n saw a nice pair of skinnies, n tried it on n i bought it. the 2nd shop's 1 was tighter and nicer lah! den i begin to regret.. y m i so impulsive..

both the shop owners ask me the same qns.. "u came shopping alone ah?" wat's wrong wid shopping alone? is it so surprising? the gd thing abt shopping alone is.. i can shop at my own pace and ease. and i can buy wateva i like w/o going thru other ppl's comments. went to the central @ clark quay just to get these - macarons
been wanting to eat these for very long. coz it looks so gorgeous! 1 small box of macarons like the one below costs $8.30. i bought 2. 1 for me, 1 for him.
its so sweet! im talking abt the macarons, not me (though i know i am). too sweet already. tastes just as i expected - not very nice after all. but i just wanted to proof myself wrong, but unfortunately, im always right! haha.

and i bought these chocolate coated digestive biscuits at a shop that sells japanese tidbits. there's only 4 such packets inside a box, and 1 packet contains 3 biscuits. this box of biscuits costs $4.20. nothing fantastic. i'd rather buy mark's and spencers's chocolate digestive biscuits. cheaper and more.

i dunno if it's sheer suayness or wat.

i went for a job interview (yes! i'm employed again!) ytd, and it's some place near tuas - lok yang rd. i reached boon lay interchange at 215. the interview was scheduled at 3. i waited for the bus... n waited.. n waited.. n waited.. n waited for 45min!!! i alighted the bus, and realised it was the wrong stop. the worst thing is, I LEFT MY PORTFOLIO ON THE BUS! i only realised that when someone called me n told me my file was with him.

i walked n walked along the bus route, all the bus stops were empty. and that guy told me that it'd take about 5-10min to reach the bus stop tat he was at. LUCKILY, there was a cab (and it's really LUCKILY, tat place is really ulu, coz it's an industrial area). the bus stop tat the guy was at is damn far lah. had to cross the aye loh. imagine if i had continued to walk...

finally, i reached the office at 330.

this is SO happening.

after getting the ipod.. i was so damn excited to get all its accessories. so i went to apple shop today. they're having clearance sales lah! i was thinking - wah.. this is great! so i bought a crystal ipod nano case @ $10 only! but when i went home, it cant fit my ipod. dunno why. the case is too small, my ipod is too long. dun understand why, i bought it at the apple shop, yet it cant fit. the worst is i cant exchange it, coz i bought it during sales. so $10 for a case tat cant fit. not quite a bargain afterall.

but nvm, at least i bought my white transparent m)phosis bag. the sales lady told me its the last piece, and i grabbed it immediately. the previous shops i went, the bag was oos. so glad!!!

early celebration for my bday wid the girls today. ate at vilage at the heeren. no difference from marche, except a different name. the girls actually put my present in my bag while i was away. n when i was taking my wallet out from my bag, i saw this HOT PINK stuff in my bag. i tot it was someone's pouch.. so i just took it out, fling it ard, n realised tat... it's a BRA.. -.-" and we all burst out laughing.

SMIT ADD at novotel clarke quay hotel. the ballroom was pretty small, only 8 tables. tot that with less ppl, my hopes of getting the top prize (ipod video) would be higher. but damn... the couple sitting next to me got it! derrick got the dunno 3rd or 4th prize, which is a crumpler bag, and his gf got the ipod video. after the ADD, we went to watch 'stomp the yard'. pretty nice.. but i still think 'take the lead' is the best. the rest of them left, leaving only dear, nut, james and me roaming around.
